In March 2013, Kevin Deveaux developed and facilitated a workshop for 30 MPs (+ 10 staff) from the Myanmar Union Assembly. The course provided an opportunity for MPs from the government, opposition and national race parties to gather and discuss their role in building a legal framework for Myanmar that reflects international standards.
The course was co-facilitated with Charmaine Rodrigues of UNDPs Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR) and was presented over five days after each daily session of the Assembly. MPs and staff had a number of opportunities to engage the experts and to discuss amongst themselves relevant experiences from other parliaments in the region and internationally.
The workshop was sponsored by UNDP Myanmar and was organized by the Union Assembly, through senior leadership from USDP and NLD, in its new training facility in Nay Pyi Taw.
